Tunisia confirms 34 new COVID-19 cases, 312 in total

TUNIS, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisian Health Ministry on Sunday reported 34 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 312.

Out of a total of 3,305 lab tests, 312 cases were tested positive from 21 provinces out of 24, the ministry said in a statement.

Tunisia's first confirmed case has recovered, while eight more deaths from the coronavirus were reported in the provinces of Ariana, Sousse, Mahdia, Sfax, El Kef and Tataouine, the statement added.

As of Sunday, over 18,305 people have been placed under quarantine in Tunisia, of whom 12,177 have completed the quarantine period.

According to figures from the ministry, the provinces of Tunis, Ariana and Ben Arous are most affected areas with 78, 44 and 29 cases respectively. Enditem
