TOKYO, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning as another spike in coronavirus infections in Tokyo triggered concerns the government may take further measures to control the movement of people to curb the further spread of the pandemic.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 626.73 points, or 3.23 percent, from Friday to 18,762.70.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 50.32 points, or 3.45 percent, at 1,409.17.
All industrial categories on the main section lost ground, with air transportation, bank and machinery issues comprising those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
