WASHINGTON, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The United States has reported more than 150,000 COVID-19 cases, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE).

As of 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday (1900 GMT), there were more than 153,000 confirmed cases in the United States, with 2,828 deaths, an interactive map maintained by the CSSE showed.

In the nation, New York state has been hit the hardest by the disease, which has reported more than 66,000 cases and 1,218 deaths.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted on Monday that "what is happening in New York is NOT an anomaly", vowing to "share the lessons learned here across this country."

The USNS Comfort, a Navy hospital ship containing 1,000 beds and a dozen operating rooms, sailed into New York City harbor on Monday, which will accommodate non-COVID-19 patients.

Globally, nations and regions have together reported more than 766,000 cases and 36,873 deaths, according to the CSSE update.

Italy, the second nation with more than 100,000 cases, has seen 11,591 deaths from the epidemic. Enditem
