Confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 51 in Bangladesh

DHAKA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Two more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 51 on Tuesday.

Of the new patients, one is a 57-year-old Saudi returnee while the other is a 55-year-old with no record of going abroad, Professor Meerjady Sabrina Flora, head of the country's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) under the Health Ministry, said in an online press conference.

Of the total cases in the country, there were five deaths so far, with 21 patients having recovered, she said. Enditem
