GAZA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A total of two new cases infected with COVID-19 were recorded on Tuesday night in southern Gaza Strip, the Hamas-ruled Health Ministry in Gaza announced.

The ministry said in a short press statement that the two patients were held in a quarantine upon their arrival to the Gaza Strip through Rafah border crossing point with Egypt.

"The health condition of the two cases is stable," said the statement, adding that number of the cases recorded in the Gaza Strip reaches 12 and all are held in quarantine.

Israel has earlier allowed the shipment of medical supplies and maintenance equipment through Erez Crossing Point in coordination with the World Health Organization to help in combating the virus in Gaza.

Israel has been imposing a tight blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007 when Hamas seized control of the coastal enclave by force. Enditem
