TOKYO, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning after inheriting a weak lead for Wall Street overnight, with data here showing sentiment at big manufacturers worsened amid the coronavirus pandemic adding to a downbeat mood.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 177.03 points, or 0.94 percent, from Tuesday to 18,739.98.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 8.29 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1,394.75.
Air transportation, service and land transportation issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
