SINGAPORE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 1.65 percent, or 40.96 points, to close at 2,440.27.
A total of 1.27 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.31 billion Singapore dollars (about 958 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 298 to 138.
The STI index went up 2.69 percent, or 64.99 points, to close at 2,481.23 Tuesday. Enditem
