COVID-19 cases rise to 423 in Tunisia

TUNIS, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisian health authorities on Wednesday reported 30 new coronavirus cases, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 423.

Following 550 lab tests, 30 new cases were confirmed to be infected with the virus, said Nissaf Ben Alaya, director general of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases at a press briefing.

Ben Alaya revealed that there are 5 recovered patients and 12 deaths.

The Ministry of Health called on all citizens to respect the law and all measures taken by the authorities to protect the country's health security.

In order to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus, Tunisian National Security Council decided on Tuesday to extend the general confinement for two more weeks starting from April 5. Enditem
