BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted 145 km west of L'Esperance Rock, New Zealand around 2330 local time (1130 GMT) on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey has said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 425.13 km, was initially determined to be at 31.6377 degrees south latitude and 179.5914 degrees east longitude.

L'Esperance Rock is the southernmost islet in the Kermadec Islands, located to the north of New Zealand. No fatalities have been reported so far. Enditem
