VIENTIANE, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Laos reported on Wednesday one new COVID-19 case, bringing the total number in the country to 15, according to Lao health official.
The new case of COVID-19 involves a 20-year-old woman living in Lao capital Vientiane, who returned to Laos from Britain and had a close contact with the 12th infected case announced on Monday, Lao Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meaungpak told a press conference in Vientiane on Wednesday.
The patient flew from Britain on March 22, and arrived in Laos on March 23 by Thai Airways flight TG 574, which was the same flight with the 11th and 12th infected case in Laos, said Lao official.
The patient is treated in the Mittaphab Hospital and she is not in a serious condition.
As of Wednesday, Laos tested 781 suspected cases, with 15 cases confirmed positive.
Twelve cases are treated in the designated hospital of Mittaphab Hospital (150 Hospital), another three cases are treated in a provincial hospital in Luang Prabang province.
The 11th case, a 55-year-old man from Papua New Guinea is currently in an intensive care unit at the Mittaphab Hospital, while other 14 cases are not in serious condition, according to Director of Mittaphab Hospital Sanong Thongsana.
