MAPUTO, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Mozambique's health ministry announced on Wednesday that the number of positive cases of COVID-19 had risen from 10 to 17 in the country.

Of the seven new positive cases, six were detected from the province of Cabo Delgado and one in Maputo, said the national director of Public Health, Rosa Marlene when speaking to the press in Maputo.

The director said the six cases from Cabo Delgado were found among the contacts of a 61-year-old man, who works for Total's natural gas project in that province and was diagnosed one week ago.

Health authorities will continue to track more contacts with the positive cases and receive more samples from places where suspected cases are reported, said Marlene. Enditem
