COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria exceed 600

SOFIA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria has topped 611, head of the national coronavirus task force Major-General Ventsislav Mutafchiyski said here on Thursday.

The number has increased by 30 from Wednesday morning, Mutafchiyski said at his regular morning press conference.

Of all the patients, 341 are men and 270 are women, Mutafchiyski said, adding that the oldest coronavirus patient in the country is 90 years old and the youngest is one year old.

The number of infected medical staff is 33, Mutafchiyski said.

According to him, 233 patients are hospitalized and 27 remain in intensive care, among which most are hospitalized in the country's capital city Sofia.

The death toll is 24 with an average age of 65.2 years. Forty-eight patients with average age of 47 years have recovered, Mutafchiyski said. Enditem
