JUBA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan's Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed one new case of novel coronavirus, tallying the number to four.
Angok Gordon Kuol, the incident manager for coronavirus disease in the Ministry of Health said the patient is an adult and a contact of the first case, adding that the case is a local transmission.
"The fourth case that has been confirmed is a local transmission, and the patient is an adult who is also a contact of the first patient," Kuol told Xinhua in Juba.
Kuol said the protocol of providing the media with the patient's details was restricted by the high-level task-force on COVID-19 due to stigmatization.
He said the patient is currently being treated at the John Garang Infectious Disease Unit, noting that the tracing of the patient's contacts is underway.
The official reiterated that the country's high-level task-force on COVID-19 has scaled up mitigation measures against the viral respiratory disease.
South Sudan has introduced rules in the transport industry and imposed night-time curfew as measures to combat the virus in the country. Enditem
