BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The world is now in a battle against COVID-19, a disease caused by a previously unknown coronavirus that has spread to over 200 countries and regions.

ULAN BATOR -- The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday donated medical protection supplies to Mongolia to help the country in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sergey Diorditsa, representative of the WHO in the country, handed over the supplies, including test kits, masks, and medical gloves, which are worth 80,770 U.S. dollars, to the country's Health Ministry and National Center for Communicable Disease.

NEW DELHI -- India has sent a medical team consisting of 15 doctors and health professionals to Kuwait to help the Gulf country fight the COVID-19, announced the Ministry of External Affairs Saturday.

The medical team will stay in Kuwait for a period of two weeks during which it will render medical assistance in testing and treatment of the afflicted persons and training their personnel.

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry said Saturday evening the death toll due to the COVID-19 in the country rose to 242 and the total number of confirmed cases in the country reached 7,529.

"As of 5:00 p.m (local time) today 242 deaths related to novel coronavirus have been recorded in the country," read the information released by the ministry.

ADDIS ABABA -- Djibouti's Ministry of Health on Saturday announced 37 new COVID-19 confirmed cases, eventually bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Horn of Africa nation to 187.

The Djiboutian Ministry of Health, in a statement issued on Wednesday, disclosed that 37 people were tested positive for the virus from the total 277 people who were tested for the novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin remains in "excellent" health amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Saturday.

STOCKHOLM -- Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sweden surpassed 10,000 as the country's Public Health Agency announced on Saturday that 10,151 cases have been registered and 887 have died.

The Swedish agency announced at a press conference that over the last 24 hours, there has been an increase of 17 deaths, while emphasizing that since it is a weekend, there may be some backlog in the number of reported cases. Of the 887 dead, 516 are men and 371 are women.
