SKOPJE, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will provide North Macedonia with more credit support to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the country's central bank chief said Saturday.
The IMF's financial resources will help mitigate the negative effects on the economy of North Macedonia, said Anita Angelovska-Bezoska, Governor of the National Bank of North Macedonia, in a press release.
She added that the IMF's credit support will help stabilize the country's macroeconomy.
Her remarks came a day after the IMF approved the disbursement of 191.83 million U.S. dollars in emergency aid to the Balkan state.
According to the IMF, North Macedonia's economic outlook has deteriorated substantially because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Real Gross Domestic Product is expected to decline by 4 percent in 2020 due to a fall in both domestic and external demand," the IMF said in a press release published on Friday.
As of Saturday, North Macedonia has reported a total of 760 COVID-19 cases. The total death toll stood at 34. Enditem
