TEHRAN, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has removed tariffs on some Iranian agricultural products, Reza Nourani, head of Iranian National Union of Agricultural Products, was quoted as saying by IRAN Daily on Monday.
The products subject to the removal of tariffs include potatoes, onions, garlic, cabbages, carrots, peppers, fruit juices, wheat, black grains, long-grain rice and baby food, said Nourani.
He welcomed the move by the EEU as Iran is under the U.S. sanctions and grappling with the economic pressures pertaining to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Iran and the EEU signed a three-year provisional agreement in Kazakhstan's capital Nur-Sultan in May 2018.
According to the preferential trade agreement, the two sides have three years to upgrade the treaty into a full-fledged free trade deal that lowers or abolishes customs duties. Enditem
