U.S. dollar falls in light trading

NEW YORK, April 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. dollar declined modestly in light trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was down 0.13 percent at 99.3553 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0922 U.S. dollars from 1.0933 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2529 dollars from 1.2469 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.6399 U.S. dollar from 0.6348 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 107.52 Japanese yen, lower than 108.36 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9662 Swiss franc from 0.9653 Swiss franc, and it fell to 1.3875 Canadian dollars from 1.3961 Canadian dollars.

Trading volume was relatively thin on Monday as major equity markets in Europe were closed for the Easter holiday. Enditem
