Algeria reports 87 new COVID-19 cases, 2,070 in total

ALGIERS, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Health authorities in Algeria reported on Tuesday 87 new infections from the COVID-19, in addition to 12 new death cases over the past 24 hours.

The total number of confirmed infections soared to 2,070 and the overall death toll hit 326 in Algeria, Djamel Fourar, head of COVID-19 Detection and Follow-up Commission, told a press briefing.

The Algerian government has imposed a 24-hour lockdown in the province of Blida, epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, and a partial lockdown in the other provinces until April 19. Enditem
