Ethiopia's confirmed COVID-19 cases rise to 105

ADDIS ABABA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia's confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 105 after nine more people were confirmed positive for the virus on Saturday, the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health disclosed on Saturday.

The ministry, in a statement issued on Saturday, revealed that from the total of 659 medical tests that were conducted in the last 24 hours, nine of them tested positive for COVID-19, eventually bringing the total number of cases to 105.

According to figures from the ministry, eight of the latest nine individuals were Ethiopian nationals, five males and three females, as well as a 38-years-old male Equatorial Guinea national with travel history from the United Kingdom.

The Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health also said that 16 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have so far recovered from the virus.

The ministry has previously disclosed three patients have died due to COVID-19 related illnesses.

Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous nation with about 107 million people, confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Enditem
