KABUL, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Three police were killed and six others wounded as the armed insurgents attacked a checkpoint in Muqar district of the western Badghis province on Sunday, provincial government spokesman Najmudin Burhani said.
The armed Taliban insurgents, according to the official, attacked a security checkpoint of local police in the restive Muqar district early morning, triggering gun battle which lasted for two hours and as a result three police were killed and six others wounded.
Taliban militants fled away after suffering casualties, the official asserted but couldn't give an exact figure.
The Taliban outfit has not made comment. Enditem
