COVID-19 cases rise to 993 in Afghanistan

KABUL, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 63 more COVID-19 positive cases had been confirmed over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients infected with the virus to 993 in Afghanistan, spokesman for the Afghan Public Health Ministry Wahid Mayar said Sunday.

According to the spokesman, 31 of the newly confirmed cases were reported in Kabul and the remaining 32 were in other parts of the country.

Mayar also said 15 patients had recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of recovered to 131 since the outbreak of COVID-19 in mid February in Afghanistan.

However, the spokesman did not disclose the number of those succumbed to the killing virus in Afghanistan. Enditem
