TUNIS, April 19 (Xinhua) -- An army soldier was wounded by the explosion of a landmine in Tunisia's western province of Kasserine, reported Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) on Sunday.
"The soldier was hit in the legs while the military patrol was on an operational mission in Kasserine province," said TAP, quoting spokesman of the Tunisian Ministry of Defense Mohamed Zekri as saying.
"The wounded soldier was transferred to the regional hospital of Kasserine to receive necessary medical care," said Zekri.
The Tunisian security authorities have warned for years against the armed extremist groups in Kasserine, as mountain ranges there serve as a suitable shelter for terrorists.
Dozens of security troops and civilians have been targeted, by direct attacks, landmine blasts or ambushes. Enditem
