PHNOM PENH, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn said on Thursday that the World Health Organization (WHO)'s efforts and role in advancing global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic are laudable.

"We should praise the efforts and the leading role of the WHO as a respectable world health entity in providing information, training, recommendations and guidance for the greater cause of mankind," he said during the special ASEAN-U.S. Foreign Ministers' meeting on COVID-19 via video conference.

According to a Cambodian foreign ministry's statement released after the meeting, Sokhonn, who is also a deputy prime minister, said Cambodia has tried to minimize the negative impacts of this pandemic on its economy as well as to prepare for the recovery phase by keeping factories running and thus preventing workers from losing their jobs.

Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 122 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 110 patients cured, according to a Ministry of Health statement on Thursday.

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Enditem
