BEIJING -- During a phone talk on Friday with Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Lim Jock Hoi, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China appreciates the efforts the ASEAN Secretariat and the secretary-general made to promote regional anti-epidemic cooperation.

He added that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations, and China stands ready to take it as an opportunity to lift bilateral relations to a new level.

WASHINGTON -- In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Radio National on Thursday, Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said that combating COVID-19, which she described as "a very tough situation," requires international cooperation, including with China.

"We need to figure out where we cooperate, where we compete," said the former secretary of state under the Bill Clinton administration, adding that a country, even one as big as the United States, needs partners and cannot solve problems alone.

BRUSSELS -- Zhang Ming, head of the Chinese Mission to the European Union, said on Friday that no matter what kind of labels are given to China's assistance efforts, the country will continue to help others fight the coronavirus and save as many lives as possible.

"As the WHO pointed out, we are fighting both the pandemic and the infodemic. Disinformation is an enemy for all of us and should be addressed by all of us. From the very beginning, China suffered a lot from disinformation," he said.
