ISLAMABAD, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan army said on Sunday that two soldiers and nine terrorists were killed in an overnight clash in the country's northwest tribal district of North Waziristan.
A statement from the army's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on credible information about presence of terrorists in Khaisura and Dossali areas of North Waziristan late Saturday night.
"During sanitization of area, fire exchange took place between the terrorists and security forces. Resultantly, nine terrorists got killed and one apprehended," the statement said, adding that two soldiers were also killed and five others got injured during the exchange of fire.
During the search of the area, weapons and ammunition were recovered, according to the statement. The army did not say which group was involved in the attack.
It is the second clash between the Pakistani forces and terrorists in North Waziristan in less than a week. Pakistan army said on Monday that a soldier and five terrorists were killed in encounter after the terrorists attacked a check post in the region. Enditem
