ULAN BATOR, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Cultural and sports centers in Mongolia's capital Ulan Bator will reopen on Friday in a relaxing of restrictions imposed in February to combat the spread of COVID-19, the mayor's press office said Friday.
"Based on instructions given by the central government and requests by citizens, mayor of [Ulan Bator] Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan on Thursday issued a decree on reopening cultural and sports centers such as sport halls, swimming pools, dance clubs and training centers in the city from May 1," the mayor's press office said in a statement.
Visitors to such facilities will be obliged to wear masks, and children under the age of 12 will not be allowed to enter, the statement added.
Ulan Bator is the most densely populated city in Mongolia, and is home to more than half the country's population of 3.2 million.
As of Friday, Mongolia has reported a total of 38 COVID-19 cases.
All confirmed cases, including four foreign nationals, are imported. There have been no local transmissions reported in Mongolia so far. Enditem
