Sierra Leone's COVID-19 cases jump to 155 with highest daily rise

FREETOWN, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Sierra Leone has seen a record high of 19 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 155, local health authorities said.

The West Africa country has recorded 27 cases of recovery, with eight deaths, it added.

One patient, who was labeled as "case 90" in the country, has escaped from the isolation unit where he was admitted, heath source said.

Sierra Leone has announced a three-day nationwide lockdown starting from May 3, while other measures including the curfew and restrictions on inter-district travel remain in full force. Enditem
