TIRANA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 4,857 administrative measures were taken nationwide by Albanian police between April 18 and May 2 for violating the restrictive measures imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, police authorities said in a statement on Sunday.

"A total of 468 drivers had their driving licenses revoked and vehicles blocked for violating the traffic ban," the statement said.

During the past 15 days, a total of 691 drivers were fined for not complying with the order to circulate with no more than one passenger in the vehicle. Police had handed out 3,618 fixed fines of 10,000 Albanian lek (89 U.S. dollars) to people circulating during curfew hours, it said.

Five citizens were fined with the amount of 20,000 Albanian lek as they did not comply with the order to restrict movement in public parks, it noted, adding that six citizens were punished with a fine of 700,000 Albanian lek for violating the rules of compulsory self-quarantine.

Sixty-nine administrators of coffee bars were fined in this period for opening and working in their coffee bars, against the decision of the authorities.

Albanian State Police urged once again all coffee bars' owners to follow and strictly implement the restrictive measures imposed by the government.
