Woman with COVID-19 gives birth to baby in Palestine

RAMALLAH, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian mother, infected with COVID-19, gave birth to a baby boy in a hospital in the West Bank city of Ramallah early on Thursday.

The Palestine Medical Complex said in a statement said that the mother and her baby are in stable health condition. The mother named her boy "Tayem."

It also said that its crews from the departments of childbirth, intensive care, and internal care rushed to receive the mother, who was infected with coronavirus a few days ago and was staying in quarantine in a hotel.

"The quality and infection control team in the hospital admitted the mother in the department designated for cases confirmed to be infected with coronavirus," the statement said.

It noted that all precautionary measures were taken to prevent infection, adding that the newly-born baby was referred to the team of pediatric intensive care and coronavirus.

It is the first time in Palestine that an COVID-19 infected mother gives birth. Enditem
