279 more COVID-19 cases test negative in Laos

VIENTIANE, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Laos tested 279 more suspected cases of COVID-19, which all of them were negative, with the total positive number in the country remaining at 19.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Laos remained at 19, as no new case was confirmed, Lao Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meaungpak told a press conference in the capital Vientiane on Sunday.

The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said it had been monitoring 1,273 people at 60 accommodation centers across the country.

On Saturday, the number of truck drivers bringing freight into Laos from Thailand was 1,069, from Vietnam 883 and 14 people from China.

As of Sunday, Laos has tested 3,187 suspected cases and 13 of the 19 patients have been discharged from hospital.

The remaining six patients were being treated in the designated hospital -- Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Vientiane.
