MONROVIA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Rescue workers digging through mud and debris have recovered four bodies since a landslide hit a village in central Liberia on Sunday, police said late Monday.
More people are believed to be still trapped under the mud, as rescue operation continues at a goldmine in the village in Bong County, said the county police commander Frederick Nippy.
The goldmine collapsed under the weight of torrential rains, which have caused the devastating landslide in the village, Nippy told reporters.
The death toll might increase as the rescue operation will continue over the next few days to further ascertain the number of those still trapped under the mud, the police chief added. Enditem
