JERUSALEM, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The number of active COVID-19 cases in Israel has dropped below 3,000 for the first time since March 27, Israeli Ministry of Health said Tuesday.
The number of active cases in Israel decreased to 2,946, while the tally of confirmed cases rose to 16,659 after 16 new cases were reported. The number of recoveries from the novel coronavirus rose by 182 to 13,435, the ministry said.
The death toll from the respiratory virus rose from 276 to 278, while the number of patients in serious condition dropped from 52 to 50.
The number of patients currently hospitalized dropped to 150, the lowest number since March 14.
Earlier on Tuesday, the ministry announced that restaurants, bars and nightclubs in Israel will reopen doors on May 27.
The reopening will be under restrictions, including keeping distance between people, taking temperature at the entrances and applying hygiene measures.
Swimming pools and hotels will also be reopened, while the event halls will reopen on June 14. Enditem
