BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina is open to extending its May 22 deadline for renegotiating its foreign debt with creditors, Economy Minister Martin Guzman said on Tuesday.

"There's a great chance the deadline will be extended ... We are in the middle of a negotiation, both sides are working to reach an agreement," Guzman said during a virtual conference with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and U.S.-Argentina Business Council. (Argentina-Debt)

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Navy on Tuesday issued a warning to mariners in the Mideast to stay 100 meters away from U.S. warships or risk being "subject to lawful defensive measures," according to media reports.

The warning notice said that armed vessels approaching within 100 meters of a U.S. naval vessel might be interpreted as a threat and subject to lawful defensive measures. Reuters first reported the notice. (US-Iran)

ALGIERS -- Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad on Tuesday highlighted the necessity to include Chinese among the foreign languages taught by different educational platforms in this North African nation.

TEHRAN -- At least two "terrorists" were killed in a clash with Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in the west of the country on Tuesday, the IRGC said.

The clash erupted in the afternoon between the IRGC forces and an "eight-member anti-revolutionary terrorist group" in the Marivan region of Iran's Kurdistan province, the IRGC said in a statement carried by Tasnim news agency. (Iran-Gunmen Killed-Kurdistan) Enditem
