COPENHAGEN, May 20 (Xinhua) -- International sports clothing manufacturer Hummel announced in a press release on Wednesday that it would enter into a multimillion-U.S. dollar sponsorship agreement with E-Sports Astralis Group.
The deal is reported to be worth up to 7 million U.S. dollars over the next three years.
Astralis Group, with their headquarters in Denmark, is the international E-sports and entertainment company behind three of the world's major E-sport teams: Astralis, Origen, and Future FC.
Astralis, who currently ranks as the world's best team in the game Counterstrike: Global Offensive, will from this September be wearing Hummel jerseys, while Origen and Future FC will start wearing their new jerseys from this summer.
"It is a testament to what our team and the sports industry can do", said Jakob Lund Kristensen, sales manager and co-counder of Astralis group to Denmark's TV2 news.
"The industry is incredibly young, but already E-sport has half a billion followers worldwide. Now we have the opportunity with the Astralis Group, which is among the world's leaders in E-sport," said Allan Vad Nielsen, Hummel's CEO. Enditem
