LOS ANGELES -- A small plane crashed at an elementary school in the U.S. state of California Wednesday morning, killing the pilot.

WASHINGTON -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 jolted 224 km southwest of Methoni, Greece, at 2:43 on Thursday (2343 GMT on Wednesday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20.22 km, was initially determined to be at 35.1547 degrees north latitude and 20.2872 degrees east longitude.
