BERLIN, May 21 (Xinhua) -- A German parliamentary report has recently expressed skepticism over lawsuits against China for damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, citing lack of relevance.

The 20-page report sent to the Bundestag last week, commissioned by Green Party lawmakers Juergen Trittin and Ottmar von Holtz, said China's initial management of the crisis can hardly be proven as the sole cause of the damage that has occurred.

"Between the outbreak of the virus in China and the specific damage event (e.g. a business bankruptcy) in the USA, there are numerous actions and incidents that could be blamed for," the report said.

It would be practically impossible to identify what so-called mismanagement "caused, triggered or worsen" a possible pandemic, German local media Deutsche Presse Agentur quoted the file as reporting.

In April, U.S. states of Missouri and Mississippi claimed that they have filed lawsuits against China over its alleged lack of COVID-19 response measures, which they accused of leading to deaths and other damage in the United States.

China slammed the practice of some U.S. politicians shifting blame amid the COVID-19 pandemic, saying Washington is trying to cover up its own problems by doing so. Enditem
