BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOSCOW -- Russia has confirmed 8,946 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising its total number of infections to 353,427, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Monday.

The death toll grew by 92 to 3,633, while 118,798 people have recovered, including 5,499 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.

TUNIS -- Chinese medical experts in Algeria on Sunday held a video conference with Chinese people in Tunisia for the prevention of the COVID-19.

Organized by the Chinese embassy in Tunisia, workers from Chinese companies and Chinese people living in Tunisia participated in the video conference.

During the conference, Chinese medical experts answered questions related to the COVID-19, including the prospect for the resumption of the work of Chinese companies in Tunisia and personal protection measures against the COVID-19.

MANILA -- The Philippines on Monday reported 284 new cases of the COVID-19, pushing the total number of the cases to 14,319 since the highly infectious disease emerged in the country in January.

The Department of Health said the total death toll has increased to 873 after 5 more patients succumbed to the viral disease.

SYDNEY -- Australia's Queensland has suspended its bid to host the 2032 Olympics recently as the state government focuses on economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

SOFIA -- Bulgarian health authorities on Monday reported a record low of only six new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,433.

Meanwhile, another 22 people have recovered from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 862, secretary of the national coronavirus task force Dimo Dimov said in a statement, adding that there were no new COVID-19 deaths. Enditem
