HOUSTON -- U.S. state of Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that more businesses in Texas can reopen this week while the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading in the state.

Abbott said food court dining areas in shopping malls and driver's education programs can reopen immediately. Beginning this Friday, water parks can reopen with 25 percent capacity. Starting Sunday, recreational sports programs for adults can be resumed.

KAMPALA -- Uganda's Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday 31 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed number of infections to 253.

Out of 1,116 samples collected from cross-border cargo truck drivers, community and contacts under quarantine, 23 Ugandan drivers and 8 contacts of previously confirmed cases, tested positive for the virus, said the ministry in a statement.

TRIPOLI -- The Libyan National Center for Disease Control on Tuesday announced two new COVID-19 cases in southern Libya, bringing the total number in the North African country to 77.

The two new coronavirus cases, the first in southern Libya, were confirmed out of 66 suspected samples received, the center said in a statement.

ADEN, Yemen -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Yemeni provinces controlled by the government increased to 249 after 16 new cases were confirmed on Tuesday.

The Yemeni Health Ministry said in a statement that five more deaths from the novel coronavirus were registered, bringing the death toll in the government-controlled provinces to 49.

HELSINKI -- Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare released the COVID-19 symptom map application on Tuesday to help people know the latest situation of the disease.

The symptom map application utilizes information contributed to the Omaolo service, which allows people to submit their symptoms if they suspect they have contracted the disease.

ATHENS -- The Greek Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that 10 new COVID-19 cases were diagnosed and one more patient died since Monday, bringing its total infections to 2,892 and fatalities to 173 since the start of the outbreak in the country on Feb. 26.

Among the new confirmed cases are three asylum seekers living in an accommodation facility in the town of Kranidi in the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece.

PARIS -- Since early March, the pandemic of the novel coronavirus has killed 28,530 people in France, while the numbers of patients in hospitals and in intensive care units continue to drop, according to data released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday.

A total of 18,195 patients have died in hospitals and a further 10,335 in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments.

RABAT -- A total of 45 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Morocco on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 7,577.
