BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON -- White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Tuesday that the Group of Seven (G7) Summit was planned to be held at the White House near the end of June.

"The President thinks no greater example of reopening in this transition to greatness would be the G7, and the G7 happening here and happening probably more towards the end of June," McEnany told reporters at a White House briefing.

NEW YORK -- Global COVID-19 deaths surpassed 350,000 on Tuesday, reaching 350,417 as of 8:32 p.m. (0032 GMT on Wednesday), according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,588,400 COVID-19 cases have so far been reported around the world, according to the CSSE.

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Wednesday morning said that the total number of COVID-19 cases surpassed the 150,000-mark, reaching 151,767, while the latest death toll stood at 4,337.

As many as 170 new deaths and 6,387 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported during the past 24 hours, showed the ministry's data.

KAMPALA -- The Ugandan cabinet has approved the return of 2,400 nationals stranded abroad amid COVID-19 pandemic, a government official said here Tuesday.

The cabinet on Monday agreed that Ugandan nationals trapped in 66 countries can return home at their own cost, Judith Nabakooba, minister for information, communication technology and national guidance, told reporters.

SYDNEY -- A COVID-19 cluster on board a live sheep export vessel is under close monitoring by Australian authorities on Wednesday, after six crew members tested positive for the virus.

The all male crew members worked aboard the Al Kuwait, a livestock carrier which docked in Fremantle Harbor after travelling to the State of Western Australia (WA) from Qatar, according to the WA Department of Health.

BEIJING -- Chinese health authority said Wednesday that no new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on Tuesday.

One imported case was reported in Shanghai Tuesday, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

HOUSTON -- U.S. state of Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that more businesses in Texas can reopen this week while the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading in the state.

Abbott said food court dining areas in shopping malls and driver's education programs can reopen immediately. Beginning this Friday, water parks can reopen with 25 percent capacity. Starting Sunday, recreational sports programs for adults can be resumed.

KAMPALA -- Uganda's Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday 31 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed number of infections to 253.

Out of 1,116 samples collected from cross-border cargo truck drivers, community and contacts under quarantine, 23 Ugandan drivers and 8 contacts of previously confirmed cases, tested positive for the virus, said the ministry in a statement.

TRIPOLI -- The Libyan National Center for Disease Control on Tuesday announced two new COVID-19 cases in southern Libya, bringing the total number in the North African country to 77.

The two new coronavirus cases, the first in southern Libya, were confirmed out of 66 suspected samples received, the center said in a statement.

ADEN, Yemen -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Yemeni provinces controlled by the government increased to 249 after 16 new cases were confirmed on Tuesday.

The Yemeni Health Ministry said in a statement that five more deaths from the novel coronavirus were registered, bringing the death toll in the government-controlled provinces to 49.
