Bangladesh reports 1,541 new COVID-19 cases, 22 more deaths

DHAKA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh confirmed 22 more fatalities from the COVID-19 Wednesday, bringing the country's death toll to 544.

Nasima Sultana, a senior health ministry official, told an online media briefing in Dhaka that "1,541 new COVID-19 positive cases and 22 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

She said the number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 38,292.

According to the official, 8,015 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in 48 labs across Bangladesh.

During the last 24 hours, Sultana said 346 more patients were released from hospitals and clinics, bringing the number of recovered patients in the country to 7,925. Enditem
