Spain reports slight increases in new COVID-19 cases, deaths

MADRID, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare on Wednesday confirmed slight increases in the number of new COVID-19 deaths and new cases.

The ministry reported 39 new coronavirus deaths (four more than the 35 confirmed on Tuesday), bringing the death toll in Spain to 27,118.

A slight increase was also reported in the number of new COVID-19 cases detected by PCR tests (which indicate whether the coronavirus is active in the body). The ministry reported 231 new infections (compared with 194 cases 24 hours earlier) . The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 236,769.

Among the new cases, 174 came from the regions of Madrid and Catalonia, and 15 from the Autonomous Community of Aragon in northern Spain. Enditem
