WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened social media giants that his government could "strongly regulate" or "close them down" after Twitter fact-checked one of his tweets for the first time.

GENEVA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday announced the creation of the WHO Foundation, an independent grant-making entity that will support the organization's efforts to address the most pressing global health challenges.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a virtual press conference from Geneva that the idea to support the establishment of the WHO Foundation dated back to February 2018, and "today it gives us enormous pleasure to launch it officially." (WHO-Foundation)

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistan army said on Wednesday that it had "shot down" an Indian quadcopter along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region.

ABUJA -- At least 30 gunmen were killed when the Nigerian military conducted airstrikes around a large forest which served as a hideout for them in the northwestern state of Zamfara, an official said on Wednesday.
A series of airstrikes by the military on Tuesday also destroyed the gunmen's logistics storehouse in Doumborou Forest of Zamfara, said John Enenche, a spokesman for the Nigerian military. (Nigeria-Gunman) Enditem
