WASHINGTON -- Protesters took to the streets on Saturday in at least 30 U.S. cities over the death of an unarmed African American man George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As many as 25 cities across 16 U.S. states have imposed curfews while at least eight states and Washington D.C. have called on the National Guard to help respond to protests and unrest as of Saturday, said a CNN report.
Nearly 1,400 people have been arrested during the protests in 17 cities since Thursday, according to an AP tally, adding that the actual number is likely higher as protests continue on Saturday night.(US-Protests-George Floyd)

LOS ANGELES -- California governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles County on Saturday night on the fourth straight day of protests over the death of African American George Floyd.
Newsom also authorized assistance by the National Guard in coping with the unrest in downtown Los Angeles.
A document signed by him said the state government made this decision based on the request by the city and the county of Los Angeles, which, with a population of more than 10 million population, is the most populous county in the United States.(US-LA-Riot)

MOGADISHU -- At least seven people were killed and others injured in a huge roadside blast in the Hawa Abdi area on the outskirts of Somalia's capital here on Sunday morning, police and witnesses have said.

LUANDA -- Two people were killed and two others seriously injured after a truck and an elephant collided on Saturday in northern Angola's Cuanza Norte province, said a note from the Ministry of Tourism.
