KIEV, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Law enforcement officials detained a man who threatened to blow up the Metro bridge in Kiev on Monday, the press service of Ukraine's police said on its official Facebook page.
"A man who said he had explosives and threatened to blow up the Metro bridge was detained at 3:20 p.m.," the message read.
Earlier in the day, a man called the police and threatened to blow up the Metro bridge. The subway operation was stopped, and people were evacuated. The head of the National Police Department in Kiev, Andriy Kryshchenko, held negotiations with the man.
Law enforcement officers said that the man had no explosive device. They learned about it after the man was detained when he got distracted.
According to local media, the man's demands were unclear. No one was hurt during the special operation.
"The detained man was taken to the district police administration. Doctors were called, including a psychiatric care team," said Kryshchenko. Enditem
