LONDON, June 2 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.87 percent, or 53.72 points, to close at 6,220.14 points.
Meggitt, a UK-based international company specialising in components and sub-systems for the aerospace, defence and selected energy markets, soared 9.30 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. British Land and Melrose Industries increased by 8.35 percent and 7.87 percent, respectively.
Hargreaves Lansdown, a financial service company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.53 percent. Hikma Pharmaceuticals, a British multinational pharmaceutical company, dropped 2.73 percent. Ocado Group, an online grocer, fell 2.56 percent. Enditem
