BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health reported 517 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 36,922.

BEIJING -- Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ASEAN Plus Three or APT) should strengthen cooperation in combating COVID-19 and promoting economic development, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan said Thursday.

LONDON -- Another 176 COVID-19 patients have died in Britain as of Wednesday afternoon, bringing the total coronavirus-related death toll in the country to 39,904, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said Thursday.

BERLIN -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Germany rose by 394 within one day to 182,764, a growth under last week's average of 457, the Robert Koch Institute announced on Thursday.

DOHA -- Qatar's health ministry on Thursday announced 1,581 new infections of the novel coronavirus, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 63,741.

"Some 1,926 people recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 39,468, while the fatalities remained 45 for the second day running," the official Qatar News Agency reported, quoting a ministry statement. Enditem
