LONDON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 2.25 percent, or 142.86 points, to close at 6,484.30 points.
Carnival, a British-American cruise operator, soared 19.84 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Melrose Industries and International Consolidated Airlines Group increased by 15.11 percent and 13.64 percent, respectively.
Polymetal International, a precious metals mining company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.48 percent.
