Greece ready to issue 10-year bond

ATHENS, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Greece commissioned the services of six foreign banks for the issuance of a new 10-year benchmark bond in the coming days, it announced on Monday in a bourse filing.

The announcement said the eurozone member state has mandated BNP Paribas, BofA Securities, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs International Bank, HSBC, and JP Morgan as joint lead managers for a new 10-year euro-denominated bond carrying a June 2030 maturity.

Last week Finance Minister Christos Staikouras stated that the Greek government intends to issue some debt again in June or July in order to remain in contact with the markets.

He added that the funds to be drawn would be used to finance the government's measures to contain the impact of the coronavirus restrictions on the Greek economy.

Earlier this year Greece issued a 15-year bond and drew 2.5 billion euros (2.83 billion U.S. dollars), and a seven-year bond drawing 2 billion euros.

At the start of the year, the country's Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA) targeted the drawing of 4-8 billion euros from market forays throughout 2020, according to the year's national budget. (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars) Enditem
