BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia received a donation of 490,000 face masks from China on Tuesday, according to the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The donation is another batch of medical supplies from China to help Mongolia prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and protect Mongolians from threats of the coronavirus, the NEMA said.

BANGKOK -- The Thai government will provide partial financial support for the Thai people to spend on domestic tours as part of the government's plan to promote tourist industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic during the next four months.

The cabinet of ministers on Tuesday approved domestic tour promotion packages proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Finance under which the Thais, aged 20 years and over, will be given partial financial aid for their leisure trips within the country from July until October.

SYDNEY -- Australia's widespread easing of COVID-19 restrictions has remained on track despite a dozen new confirmed cases, with state leaders confident that milder distancing measures will be sufficient.

On Tuesday, a third school this week was forced to close in the state of Victoria after a student tested positive, one of nine new confirmed cases in that state alone.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. COVID-19 cases topped 2.1 million with over 116,000 fatalities on Monday as new hotspots emerged in many states where restrictions in place to curb the spread of the virus continue to ease amid an economic reopening.

There were 2,113,372 cases of COVID-19 and 116,135 deaths in the United States, according to an updated tally by Johns Hopkins University on Monday. Enditem
