TOKYO, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as fears over a resurgence of coronavirus cases in some countries and geopolitical concerns surrounding the Korean Peninsular saw investors lock in gains following the Nikkei's sharp rise a day earlier.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 167.71 points, or 0.74 percent, from Tuesday to 22,414.50.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.94 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,585.51.
Air transportation, iron and steel, and textile and apparel issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
